Biography:
Rob started reading the business section of the newspaper in the seventh grade and yes, articles discussing Mergers & Acquisition were of particular interest! Admittedly, Rob did read the sports section of the newspaper before the business section, illustrating his competitive nature which often goes hand in hand with the entrepreneurial spirit that Rob shares with his business clients.
Having graduated from Ohio University with degrees in Marketing and Finance, Rob worked as a CFO in the moving and storage business. Rob spent his days working closely with the business owners and his teams in preparing and analyzing financial statements, reconciling income and expense, building financial models, overseeing growth by acquisition, and supervising all aspects of those acquisitions. It shouldn’t be surprising that in the world of small business, even the CFO wears many hats as Rob was involved in financials, sales, operations, and practically all aspects of operating a small business. Along the way Rob even learned to drive an 18 wheeler! This experience gave Rob a fantastic background to go freelance, consulting with small businesses with his own CFO services consulting company.
Many of Rob’s clients needed Exit Plan consulting, and ultimately would need to confidentially market their businesses for sale. Rob decided to re-focus his work on this segment joining forces with Murphy Business Sales of Ohio. As one of the largest and most successful business brokerage companies in the country, Rob knew that Murphy’s platform would allow him to focus on his long-time passion for the acquisition and sale of small businesses.
